Each month we set a new competition on our website, and each month we select one lucky winner from the 25 finalists. The winner receives the prize stated on our competitions page

The selection is made by several members from Karl Taylor Photography and a winner is agreed upon based on technical merit, artistic interpretation and overall impact.

To enter the competition you need to be a subscriber and you may submit one image 1000 pixels wide per competition.

We would also love to hear forum members critique on each months finalists to see if your views as to the best shot matched ours, so please feel free to start a new topic stating which image of the 25 finalists was your favourite!

Thanks

Karl Taylor Photography Team

No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get my photos 1000 pixels wide in Iphoto. Where am I going wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Kelsta,

See if you can purchase a copy of Photoshop Elements which is not too pricey then you can just use the image size menu to do this very easily.

Cheers
Karl.

Sorry team, but I just can not see it !!!!!!!!!

Looked at the finalist for the February Photo competition and the winner did not stand out ?

No disregard to the worthy winner but I could not see why.

Maybe a short explanation on what you saw in the image that made it a winner would help.

Big congratulations to all the finalists, some fantastic work!

Hi Guys,

Unfortunately we can't enter in our exact reasons for choosing a winner other than the team here take a vote between us on creativity, technical execution, composition and just how the image makes us feel. This months shot had all those good ingredients and more, it also made you want to look more, maybe the size the image is posted on our winners page doesn't show it to it's best but it is a very good image.

It would be interesting to here peoples views though on which one they felt was a winner, maybe members could post stating which was their favourite. That could make for quite an interesting debate!

Cheers
Karl.

to be honest the winning picture of the Landscape comp sends my eyes scanning all over the place, like their is no beginning middle or end it seems busy and very cluttered , probably just personal taste though and maybe lacking in experience from my part!! i prefer Jarosław Juszkiewicz: Colin Metcalfe: and love Mark in Norfolk's over the winning photo.

all the best
          Simon.

Hmm it's more a Cityscape than a Landscape photo after looking again, there is no land bar concrete :) unless Cityscape landscape and seascape are all classed as one, i wouldn't really class the photo myself as a Landscape shot

For me the three that make me think/feel are:-

Jaroslaw, the cyclist & Mark from Norfolk

If I had to pick one it would be the cyclist

All are brilliant, this is just an opinion.

I have to agree about the cyclist photo. I feel that was a photo full of great expression and good composition. But at the end of the day, we all have our points of view don't we?
