How do you mount pictures?

   Hi

Well, I've taken the shot, edited it and printet - now I need to mount it in a frame.

Do you cut a passepartout (for those who - like me - don't know that word it's cardboard at the seize of the frame, with a hole at the seize of the picture) or buy them. The ones that come with the frame, well there is something cheap about them, propably because they are.

You can buy them, but I think they are pretty expensive and I like doing it myself.

Do anyone have experience with cutting them your self?

I've done some reading, and you need some special cutting tools and the cardboard needs to be acid free.

	G'day Michael, About 20 years ago I did do some of the matting for framing that you mentioned, but if you only plan to do a few prints, and you still need to purchase the frame and glass etc, sometimes it's better to go with what is available, especially if you want it framed and matted as a professional standard. I found that I needed to get the glass first, as sometimes the glass was slightly larger than requested, and then the frame would not fit the glass and the whole thing needed to be done again. There are framing and matting kits available if you intend to do alot, but some research to find what is the professional standard is worth the time. Hope this helps. Regards, Craig.
